Hanging with the neighbors.
Apr. 2nd, 2007 09:43 amWe went to a neighborhood cookout Friday night. It's the first time we've really hung around them for ages. Some of them are really nice people and others are nice and just not our speed, but it was a very pleasant evening. One couple has a boy Monster's age and they got along like peas and carrots.
What was funny to me was how many people asked if we wanted another child. I mean, Big Ez is four months old!
It's like when we got married and everyone kept asking when we'd have "news." If I'd had "news" prior to our wedding, I'm sure there would have been plenty of whispers, but I was supposed to have "news" about 48 hours later, apparently.
A third child has certainly not been ruled out, but we'll at the very least space them the way these two are, so we've got a while to decide such a thing, you know?
Honestly, it surprises me a little when people are so adamant about only having a specific number of kids. Maybe it's because I often don't approach things with such certainty since I figure circumstances will lead us to different actions, but I'm not making any declarations that we will only have two or whatever.
Totally unrelated to this, there's a woman who walks her baby around our block every morning, and she keeps the baby in one of those plastic bubble-over-the-stroller things. Those give me the willies.
Today I'm going to JoAnn in one more attempt to find a half yard of butter yellow shantung. It would appear that there is no yellow shantung in the City of Atlanta. Grrr. I'm going to try to avoid the yarn aisle, as this weekend I gave away two garbage bags of yarn.
It amazes me that in the last two weekends I have hauled off six bags of things I decided were trash and donated TWELVE BAGS of things, and there is still stuff all over my house.
