Yesterday we were at the park and ran into a kid in Ez's class who was riding a bike with no training wheels. The kid's an older 5, but that doesn't stop our intrepid boy. You can imagine his first request to my dad when he came over to play today.

He just rode off. Seriously. This video is his second training-wheel-free run ever. He has decided that he not only should receive a "golden medal" for his efforts, his intends to pop a wheelie by the time he's five. Anya, his number one cheerleader, was so cool, shouting encouragement and making a huge fuss over him, which made him even more proud of himself.

Speaking of Anya, y'all are aware that Little Miss Perfect does not get in trouble at school. Ever.

She got a time out this week.

I know, we're all scandalized. :) Evidently her tablemate spoke to her during quiet time and she answered, which got them both a time out. She was slightly distressed about this until her very savvy friend B told her, "It's okay. It's too late for your time out today, and they never remember the next day. Just don't remind them."

She reports that she did not remind the teacher, who did indeed forget, so she was very impressed with B "having it all figured out, that if you're going to get in trouble, you should do it at the end of the day." There are a lot of lessons to be learned at school: responsibility, cooperation, attentiveness...and sometimes, how to work the system.

Then yesterday she got her silly bandz confiscated because she was playing with them during class meeting. Clearly, this is a slippery slope to reform school.

Either that or the kid is finally learning that she doesn't have to be Absolutely Perfect All The Time, which will take a load off that anxious little mind. Frankly, I'm a little relieved. I thought she'd give herself an aneurysm by third grade with all the pressure she puts on herself.

Oh no. It's not your third child that's going to be trouble, apparently... ;)

In case we needed another reason to get together, i have a bag of Stuff for Ezra. You know, if he can fit us in between wheelies and golden medals.

We'd love to! What are we looking at? His Fridays are the easiest to do.

I managed not to smile while she was confessing.

She's not that perfect. She works my system at least once a week during morning meeting. I tell her I know she's rooking me.

You aren't a teacher. She has no problem whatsoever trying to work us.

I just like her to know that I know she's doing it.

Gnarly made me replay the video about 15 times. She was just delighted by Ezra's mad skillz.
