I wasn't full after dinner. I try not to eat until I'm full, although there are a few things that are so tasty that you keep eating even after you know you aren't hungry anymore just because it tastes good. I don't treat most food that way. I don't usually eat dessert unless I'm somewhere special--I'm not denying myself, I'm just not a huge dessert person--but for some reason I wanted to try the margarita cupcake and then it was really tasty.

So now I am full, and I loathe being full. It always makes me want to vomit. After I've eaten, the idea of food is often nauseating; there is nothing more repulsive than a fast food commercial after I have just eaten a meal, even if I ate a hummus wrap and an apple. I don't usually eat just for the sake of eating; something has to taste great or I have to be hungry. Like when [livejournal.com profile] travellight and I went to Murphy's a couple of weeks ago and I ate too much, and then I didn't eat for about 24 hours: a human anaconda, I just couldn't eat again until that whole lump was gone.

The feeling of "full" is a lot more uncomfortable to me than the feeling of "empty." After all, "empty" is so easy to fix: toss a few slices of cheese and some crackers or a banana on it, and it's gone. You can't fix "full." It's just...gross. I didn't even eat anything heavy or fatty or anything like that; it's just that damn cupcake, sitting on top of dinner.

Got any oolong tea? If I feel over full like that I make a small cup of oolong to help hurry up the digestive process. Works pretty well. :)

I have no oolong at this time, but I have some peppermint that I'm about to enjoy. That usually helps with the queasies.

I hate it when I do this. I almost never do it because I know I hate it! That was just dumb.

Slow, deep breaths. One at a time. Lol. I hate that feeling also. I'm a lot like you with the desserts. I'm just not a sweet eater period. Chocolate is almost disgusting to me. I would much rather sit down with a bag of chips or something else salty than something sweet.

Now when I was pregnant with Reagan I couldn't get enough chocolate cake and vanilla icecream. It was sooo addictive that I called it my "crack drug".

I am so with you on this, but it's surprisingly rare. When I had friends in town a couple of months ago, we went out to eat a lot, and I think the novelty of it made me fill up, and it reminded me of how much I hate it because I felt so lethargic for the rest of the week. Since then, I've been more mindful, but the flip side is that amazing phenomenon where my dining companions (the ones who don't know me well) see me not stuffing myself and think, "She's thinner than average. She's not finishing all her food. She must be anorexic. Now I will hint about it obnoxiously until she says, 'You know, I don't have an eating disorder.'"

...But I digress.

Oh hey I'm exactly the same. I usually eat till I'm not hungry. If I eat till I'm full, I'll feel too much like puking and I'll have to walk it off. I'm also not a big dessert eater. My mum's the exact opposite. Apparently she has no idea what being full feels like.

On the downside, I'm always being told I'm wasting food when I didn't even want such ginormous portions to begin with?

I often feel slightly guilty if I don't eat everything I'm given, but restaurants often serve such huuuuge portions that it's two or three meals' worth of food!

You're very fortunate to be so in tune with your body's signals. I envy you. Stopping when I'm no longer hungry is still something I'm trying to learn.

Yep, I second this.

My brother always says after a big feed: "I can't WAIT to hurry up and not eat!"

All I can say is I'm the total opposite. I love being full, and I love eating just to eat. Which would be why I outweigh you by, um, a few pounds.

Yep. :) I wish I were more like Lynn in this respect.
